Abuja, July 24, 2018 (NAN) A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a 27-year-old mechanic, Sunday Okoma, to 14 days imprisonment for dangerous driving.
Okoma, of Apo village, Abuja, was convicted after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of non-registration and dangerous driving.
The judge, Mr Sidi Rufai, however, ordered the convict to pay N6, 000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Samuel Adebite, had told the court that the Area Commander, Metro, Abuja, accosted the convict along Ahmadu Bello Way by the CBN Junction, Garki, on July 19.
He said that the convict, on the same date, drove a Golf vehicle with registration no. CQ 342 KTU, dangerously on the road and was arrested.
Adebite said that the convict drove dangerously and failed to stop when ordered to do so by a police officer.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to Sections 28 and 29 of the Road Traffic Act.(NAN)
