Lagos, Nov. 20, 2017 (NAN) A filling station manager, Lukmon Olaniyi, 28, was on Monday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos  for allegedly stealing N748, 000 belonging to his employer.

Olaniyi, residing at Sulaimon Street at Iba New Site in Ojo, near Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Uche, told court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 20 at Forte Oil Filling Station at Igbo Elerin in Ojo.

He said that the accused stole N748, 000 which his employer, David Olutayo gave him to pay into one of their client’s accounts.

“The complainant found out that the accused had converted the money to his personal use after the client called and told him he did not receive the money.’’

Uche said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.S. Okubule, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and they should show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

Okubule adjourned the case until Jan. 17, 2018 for mention. (NAN)
