Man,39, arraigned over alleged forex fraud

Lagos, June 5, 2017 (NAN) A 39-year-old man, Wale Adeleye, who allegedly stole and obtained N3.6 million under the pretext of procuring forex, was on Monday arraigned in Lagos.

The accused is standing trial before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.

Adeleye, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometimes in October 2016 at Ifako- Agege, Lagos.

He said that the accused had fraudulently obtained N3.6 million from Mr Gill Nwachukwu under the pretext of assisting the complainant to procure forex.

Uwadione said that the offences, contravened Sections 280(2) (a), 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.S. Okubule, admitted the accused to a bail of N300, 000 with two sureties who must be gainfully employed.

Okubule adjourned further hearing in the case until July 10. (NAN)
