Man remanded for allegedly stealing property worth N395,000

Ibadan, Feb. 7, 2017 (NAN) An Ibadan High Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of 32-year-old Wasiu Olasunpo in prison custody for allegedly stealing property worth N395,000.
Justice Omobolanle Aiki gave the order as the defendant pleaded not guilty and adjourned the case till March 20 for hearing.
The defendant is standing trial on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery.
Mrs Adepeju Adewolu, Principal State Counsel, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, conspired to rob Olalekan Kazeem, Kolawole Isiaka, Onigbide Sunday, and Ifeoluwa Adesina of their property.
Adewolu listed the property as cash, a laptop, cell phones and wristwatch, all valued at N395,000.
She said that the defendant and others at large, were armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, gun and knives, when the robbed the victims of their belongings.
She said that the incident happened on March 28, 2016 at Ayegun, Oleyo area of Ibadan at about 2.a.m.
Adewolu said that the offences contravened Section 1 (2) of Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provision) Act, Cap R11 Vol.14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. (NAN)
