Theft

Ile-Ife (Osun), May 17, 2018 (NAN) A 31-year-old man, Isaac Ayodele on Thursday appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun over the alleged theft of over N.4 million.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Mathew Numeproi, had told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in January at No 9, Ayeyemi St., Ile-Ife.
Numeproi said that the accused stole N483, 385, 000, which he entered into the computer system, without remitting the cash to his boss, Folasade Ajilore, instead, he converted the money to his own use.
He added that the accused used Ajilore’s password to enter her computer and fraudulently removed goods worth N483, 385,000 from the system.
The prosecutor stated that the offence contravened Sections 383 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Niyi Kosile, applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal terms and pledged that the accused would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adejumoke Ademola-Olowolagba, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.
Ademola-Olowolagba added that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and their addresses should be verified by the prosecutor.
She adjourned the case until July 18, for hearing. (NAN)
