Man in court over alleged purchase of stolen refrigerator

Abuja, March 9, 2017 (NAN) A business man, Henry Danladi was on Thursday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly purchasing a stolen refrigerator.
Danladi of Durumi II, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of theft.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150, 000.
Kagarko ordered the defendant to produce a reliable surety who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned hearing till April 25.
The prosecutor, Mr Fidelis Ogbobe, had told the court that one Hassan Yerima reported a case of a stolen Nexus fridge by one Joshua Guchong at Apo Police Station on Feb. 27.
He said that during police investigations, it was revealed that the defendant bought the said fridge from Guchong at the cost of N40, 000.
“He knew quite well that the property was a stolen one,’’ Ogbobe said.
The prosecutor added that the defendant bought the fridge without any receipt or prove of ownership.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 319(a) of the Penal Code. (NAN)
