Mararaba (Nasarawa State), Jan. 30, 2018 (NAN) A 22-year-old man, Hamisu Yusuf, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly slapping one Godwin Ojobo.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Hamen Donald, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 29, 2017, around 10:40p.m.
He said that Ojobo, the complainant, alleged that the defendant slapped him on the cheek, while he was trying to explain an issue to him.
According to him, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 265 of the Penal Code Law.
The defendant, who resides at Mararaba, was arraigned on a count charge bordering on assault, an offence he denied committing.
The defence counsel, Mr Clement Akoka, applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb. 12, for hearing. (NAN)
