Stealing

Lagos, Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday granted N30,000 bail to a 28-year-old man, John Oseyem, arraigned for stealing a generator battery worth N27,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, said the accused should provide two sureties, one of who must be his blood relation.
Oseyem, of Agbado Crossing, Ogun, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused committed the offence at Onikoyi Street, Savage, Opa-Aro, Fagba Area of Lagos, on Jan. 14.
Victor said that the accused entered the residence of one Mr Osagie Stephen and stole a generator battery valued at N27,000.
He said that the accused was apprehended by the people in the community while trying to escape with the battery.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned to Feb. 8 for mention. (NAN)
