Man docked over alleged N11m fraudPretext

Lagos, Aug. 10, 2018(NAN) A 28-year-old man, Augustine Ozobi, who allegedly obtained N11 million on the pretext to supply tyres to his business associate, one Izuchukwu Ekwudu was on Friday arraigned in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The defendant is facing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining under false pretext.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the offences were committed between November 2017 and May 2018, at Eno Owa Street, Idumota, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant obtained N11 million from Ekwudu, the complainant, under the pretext that he would supply him new tyres which he failed to.
Uwadione said that the offences violated the provisions of Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N5 million, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for mention. (NAN)
