Ile-Ife (Osun), Nov. 15, 2017 (NAN) A 19-year-old man, Peter Eze,  was on Wednesday brought before an Osun Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife over alleged housebreaking and theft of goods worth N100,000.

Eze is facing a two-count charge of housebreaking and stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ijiyode said that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means.

He said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant of any grade level and must possess three years’ tax clearance certificate.

The magistrate also ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and their addresses must be verified by the prosecutor as part of their bail conditions.

 

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 9 around 8 a.m., at No. 10, Temidire St., Iyekere, Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi said that the accused conspired with others now at large to enter the apartment of one Abidemi Idowu with intent to steal.

He said that the accused stole one TV set, one DVD player, a plastic chair, a bucket, two baby flasks, a baby bed and two stabilizers, all worth N 100, 000.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 383, 390 (9) and 411 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The case was adjourned until Dec. 7, for hearing. (NAN)
