Man docked over alleged aluminum theft worth N171,000

Abuja, Feb.15, 2017(NAN) A 28-year-old man, Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, over alleged theft of aluminum worth N171,000.
Nwachukwu of Mechanic Village, Apo, is facing trial on two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000.
Kagarko ordered the defendant to produce a reliable surety who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case till April 4 for hearing.
The prosecutor, Mr Donatus Abah told the court that one Sylvanus Onwama reported the matter at Apo Police Station on Feb.10.
He said the complainant alleged that the defendant “trespassed into his uncompleted building located at Apo Mechanic village.
“He stole nineteen aluminum windows already fixed on the building,’’ Abah said.
He put the value of the stolen aluminum at N171,000.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, one of the said aluminum was recovered from the defendant.
Abah said the offence was contrary to Sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
