Man docked for allegedly raping neighbour’s daughter

Lagos, April 4, 2018 (NAN) An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 24-year-old man, Jamiu Hussaini, in prison for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 14-year-old daughter.

Hussaini, residing at No. 102, Bornu Way in Ebute Meta, Lagos, is to be tried for rape.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the count charge of rape.

The Prosecutor, Mr Chinalu Uwadione, told court that the accused committed the offence on March 27 at about 11 p.m. at his residence.

He said that the accused cornered the 14-year-old, who he had been trying to woo and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecutor said, “ the offence violates Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which stipulates death sentence for offenders”.

Chief Magistrate Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu declined to grant bail to the accused.

According to her, he is at liberty to approach the sexual offences and domestic violence court for his bail.

She ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison and adjourned the case until May 23. (NAN)
