Man docked for alleged mischief

Abuja, March 15, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Thursday arraigned a man, Richard Okoye, at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged mischief and criminal force and assault.

The defendant, who resides at Apo Resettlement, Abuja, is alleged to have damaged the gate to Jabi Motor Park in Abuja and assaulted a man in the process.

The prosecutor, Zannan Dalhatu, told the court that one Ismaella Hassan of Jabi Motor Park, reported the matter at Utako Police Station, Abuja, on March 4.

Dalhatu alleged that on same date, the defendant drove his vehicle into the park with speed and caused damage to the gate valued at N35, 000.

He said that the defendant allegedly assaulted Hassan for querying him over the incident questions.

Dalhatu told the court that the offence contravened Sections 327 and 265 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000, with one surety in like sum.

Sadiq adjourned the case until April 9. (NAN)
