Man bags10 months imprisonment for criminal breach of trust, cheating

Mararaba, (Nasarawa State), June 4, 2018 (NAN) A Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, on Monday sentenced a 22-year-old man, Uche Eze, to 10 months imprisonment for criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, convicted Eze, as he admitted committing the crime.
“Eze is hereby sentenced to four months imprisonment or an option of N5, 000 fine for the offence of criminal breach of trust.
“While for the offence of cheating, he is sentenced to six months imprisonment or an option of N5, 000 fine.
“He is also to pay N12,900 to the nominal complainant, being the money he converted to his personal use and both sentences are to run concurrently,” the judge ruled.
The convict, who resides at Mararaba, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Ejeh, had told the court that one Chizoba Unoegbu of Mararaba reported the matter at `A’ Police Division, Mararaba on June 19, at about 10p.m.
Ejeh said that the complainant alleged that the convict who is his employee at his Bet9ja shop, located at Mararaba converted the sales of N12,900 to his personal use.
The prosecutor also said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
