Abuja, Sept. 11, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a 22-year-old man, Ribadu Sada, to two months imprisonment for causing grievous hurt.
Sada of no fixed address was convicted on a count charge of causing grievous hurt.
Sada pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
The Judge, Sadiq Abubakar, however, gave the convict an option of N5, 000 fine, saying that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to others.
Sadiq also ordered the convict to pay N7,950 as restitution to the complainant
The prosecuting counsel, Auhioboh Florence, had told the court that one Illiya Sule of Queen Estate, Gwarinpa, Abuja, reported the incident at Gwarinpa Police Station on Sept. 1.
Florence said that the convict committed the offence on the same day at about 4.30 p.m.
She said that the convict and the complainant had an argument and the convict violently attacked him with scissors.
The prosecutor said the convict used the scissors and stabbed the complainant on his hand and stomach and ran away.
She said that the complainant was rushed to the Federal Staff Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja where he is currently receiving treatment.
“ So far the complainant has spent N 7,950 for his treatment,’’ she said.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convict confessed committing the crime.
She also said that the offence violated Section 196 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
