Lagos, June 22, 2018 (NAN) A 20-year-old man, Divine Timothy, on Friday, appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing some church instruments.

Timothy is facing trial on a charge of stealing, but he pleaded not guilty.

Insp Cousin Adams, the prosecutor, said the accused committed the offence on June 18 at the Christ Ascension Church, No.2, Church St., Ilaje, Costain.

He said that the accused had stolen some music instruments such as speakers, and amplifiers among others, the value of which is yet unknown.

The offence, he noted, violated Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes a seven-year- jail term for the offender.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alex Komolafe, granted the accused a bail of N100, 000 with two sureties, each in like sum, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the state government.
