Ile-Ife (Osun), June 5, 2017 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday granted N100, 000 bail to one Elijah Adedinni who was accused of assault.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode also ordered the accused to produce a surety who must be a civil servant, swear to an affidavit of means and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He said that both the surety and the 27-year-old accused must also produce two recent passport photographs.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 29 around 9:20 pm at Ita-Akogun Street, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the accused assaulted one Grace Adeoye by hitting her in the right eye with a fist, causing an injury.
He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The defence counsel, Micheal Adeyemi, applied for bail of his client on liberal terms, promising that he would not jump bail.
Ijiyode adjourned the case till June 14 for hearing. (NAN)
