Man, 43, docked over alleged possession of stolen property

Ile-Ife (Osun), Oct 25, 2017 (NAN) A 43-year-old man, Dauda Olaonipekun, was on Wednesday brought before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of stolen property.
Olaonipekun is facing a charge of stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi, granted the accused N20, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, be a blood relation of the accused and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 27 at about 5.30 a.m. at Sabo, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the accused received a Nokia 201 handset valued at N25, 000 from one Bisi Olawole which he knew was a stolen property of Ayo Okekunle.
He said that the offence contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 9 for hearing. (NAN)
