Man, 37,in court over alleged N800,000 fraud, threat to life

Abuja, Jan. 27, 2017 (NAN) A 37-year -old man, Chibuzor Eze, was on Friday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court,Abuja, for alleged N800,000 fraud and threat to life.
Eze, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a four-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal intimidation and assault.
He, however, denied the charges preferred against him.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N850,000.
Kagarko also ordered the defendant to produce a reliable surety who resides within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the hearing until March 20.
The prosecutor, Mr Umah Inah, had told the court that one Miss Nkem Nwafor reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on Jan. 5.
Inah said that the complainant alleged that the defendant, in April 2016, fraudulently collected N800,000 to facilitate her admission into a university.
“Unknown to her, such representation was made to cheat her; having collected her money, he resorted to intimidating her through text messages, threatening to kill her.
“Investigations revealed that he had been sending several threat messages to her,” Inah said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 312, 322, 397 and 265 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
