Man, 35, to spend 1 yr. in jail for stealing N63,000

Jos, Dec. 14, 2017 (NAN) A Jos Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced 35-year-old Panam Kacha to one year imprisonment for stealing N63,890.

The Chief Magistrate, Jovita Binjin, sentenced Kacha after he had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing.

Binjin, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine, after he pleaded  for leniency.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Joshua Kasuwa, told the court that the convict stole the N63,890 from one Charity Ralshak of Haskey quarters in Jos.

He said the complainant reported the case to the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station on March 3, at about 8:49 p.m. shortly after the incident.

According to him, the complainant reported that the convict made away with her money to an unknown destination.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
