Lagos, April 26, 2017(NAN) In a dramatic move, a man, Moshood Kosoko, defaecated on his body in the courtroom on Wednesday in Lagos to evade being tried for allegedly attempting to steal two gallons of palm oil valued at N22,000.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the drama played out as the 35-year-old accused was being put in the dock at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused is facing a charge of stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede had told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 21 at about 9.39 p.m. at Shop 8, Ido Market in Ebute Meta.
He said the accused had attempted to steal two gallons of palm oil from the shop of the complainant, Bose Evinsakim, valued at N22, 000.
The offence contravenes Section 280(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Magistrate, Miss Tolu Idowu, in her ruling, admitted him to a bail of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case has been adjourned until June 7 for mention. (NAN)
