Man, 34, docked over alleged N5m fraud

Lagos, Sept. 22, 2017 (NAN) A former Lagos State Government  employee,  Babatunde Olaogun, who allegedly defrauded  one Mr Asejare Oyenuga of N5 million,  on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Olaogun, 34, whose address was not provided, is facing a five-count charge bordering on obtaining under false pretences, stealing and fraud.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 12 on Oremeji Street, Ikeja.

He said that Oyenuga supplied the accused 25 laptops valued at N5 million but he refused to pay for them as they agreed.

 

Uwadione said that the offences contravened Sections 280, 287, 314(3) and 411 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

He added that the accused was charged to court last year on a similar charge.

Uwadione said that the accused also defrauded one Mr Robinson Igboanude of N3.2 million.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted him bail in the sum of N1million with two sureties in like sum.

She said that the sureties should deposit N200, 000 in the court’s account.

Adelaja adjourned the case until Oct. 16 for mention. (NAN)
