Windscreen

Lagos, April 11, 2017 (NAN) A 32-year-old man, Akeem Rabiu, who allegedly damaged the windscreen of a vehicle belonging to his co-tenant, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Rabiu, whose address was not given, pleaded not guilty to a count charge of unlawful damage preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Insp. Edet Akadu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 2, on Asofihan Street, Mushin, Lagos.
He said the accused threw stones at the complainant, Mr Yemi Adeyoloye, over an argument which ensued between them.
“The accused unlawfully damaged the windscreen of a Cherokee Jeep, with registration no. AKD 833 AC, belonging to the complainant.
‘’The windscreen is valued at N80, 000,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 337 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates two years imprisonment for offenders.
The Magistrate, Mr E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted the accused a bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail conditions.
The magistrate adjourned the case till May 4 for mention. (NAN)
