Lagos, Dec. 20, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, granted a N300,000 bail to a 30-year old Yisa Nurudeen, who allegedly stole cell phones in Lagos.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr T. O Shomade, who granted the accused bail, ordered him to produce two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Feb. 5 for mention.
The accused, a job seeker, who resides at No 4, Arofela Street, Agege suburb of Lagos, is being tried on one-count charge of stealing.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp Raji Akeem, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on Dec. 11 at Fagba Iju, a suburb of Lagos.
Akeem alleged that the accused stole the cell phones valued N129,000 and a cash of N50,000; totaling N179, 000, belonging to the complainant, Mrs Mojisola Bello.
Akeem told the court that the accused allegedly opened Bello’s parked car with a master key.
“The accused stole the phones and ran away but unfortunately, he was seen by someone.
“It was the person, who saw him that later gave the police information about him and he was thereafter arrested,” he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287(5) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
