Lagos, Oct. 23, 2017 (NAN) A 30-year-old man, Akinyetu Tobi, who allegedly opened a car with a master key and stole N20,000 and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Tobi, who resides at No. 21, Disu Akogun St., Dopemu, Agege, a Lagos suburb, is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Eruada Victor, said the accused committed the offences on Sept. 23 at No. 16, Fagbayi St., Alimosho, Lagos.

Victor told the court that the accused opened Mr Tunji Akinyemi’s Toyota Carina car with registration no. KSF 532 BQ with a master key and stole the sum of N20,000 and some ATM cards from the car.

“Akinyemi received a call from one of his neighbours that they caught a thief coming out of his car with the stolen items.

“The accused was apprehended by the neighbours,’’ he said.

The offences contravened Section 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates three years imprisonment for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Nov. 8 for mention. (NAN)
