Man, 3 teenagers in court for allegedly assaulting man with lethal weapons

Ilupeju (Ekiti), March 26, 2018 (NAN) A man and three teenage boys have appeared before the Chief Magistrate’ Court in Ilupeju, Ekiti, for allegedly assaulting and injuring a man, Mr Babatunde Filani.

The accused — Fredrick Adimula, 20; Timilehin Adimula, 16; Ojuolape Adimula, 17; and Tomilola Adimula, 16 — are  standing trial on charges of assault and causing bodily harm.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Mathew Omale, the accused had on March 22 at Adimula Farm in Ijelu Ekiti beaten the complainant, Mr Filani, with some dangerous objects and injured him.

He asked for an adjournment to enable him to prepare his case against the accused.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But Fredrick, one of the accused, told the court that he did not know how Filani sustained injuries, while agreeing that they both fought when Filani was allegedly caught on their farm stealing cashew nuts.

Chief Magistrate John Ayodele granted bails to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 each and two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned until April 26 for hearing. (NAN)
