Man, 26, in court for allegedly stealing employer’s N323, 000

Abuja, May 21, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Monday arraigned a 26-year-old man, David Orhena, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s N323,000.

The defendant who resides at Maitama, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of joint act and stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Edwin Ochanyi, told the court that one Anthony Nwafor of CBN Quarters, Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on April 25, at about 9:45p.m.

“The complainant alleged that the defendant, who is also an employee at his filing station in Maitama, jointly conspired with one Abuchi, to illegally gain access into his office and stole N323, 000.

“But during police investigation, it was discovered that the defendant had used part of the stolen money to buy one Tiger generator, one gas cooker, two pots and two trousers.

“The acquired items were recovered from the defendant after he confessed to committing the crime,” Ochayi said

The offences contravened Sections 79 and 289 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400, 000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until June 1, for hearing. (NAN)
