Lagos, Aug.14, 2017 (NAN) A 26-year-old man, Segun Francis, who allegedly stole a motorcycle was on Monday brought before an Ejigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The accused, an unemployed man, who resides in Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Kenneth Asibor, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 8 at Omo Onile Pipeline Street in Idimu, Lagos State.
Asibor said that the accused and two others, now at large, stole a motorcycle that was parked in the street at night.
“They were riding the motorcycle when the police on patrol intercepted them; arrested the accused while his other two accomplices escaped.
“When he was interrogated, he confessed that they stole the motorcycle,’’ the prosecutor said.
Asibor told the court that the owner of the motorcycle had not shown up and its market value was not yet known.
The prosecutor said that offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The chief magistrate, Mrs J. E. O. Adeyemi granted the accused to a bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adeyemi adjourned the case until Sept. 4 for mention. (NAN)
