Gombe, Jan. 20, 2017 (NAN) A Pantami Magistrates’ Court in Gombe, Gombe State, on Friday ordered the remand of a 25-year-old-man, Umar Buba, over alleged theft of 10 cows valued at N 1.5 million.
Chief Magistrate Bello Sheriff said that the accused should be remanded in custody till Feb. 7, when the case would come up.
Buba who resides in Zaune village in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, is facing a charge of stealing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ismail Adamu, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 5, at about noon, at Suka Village in Dukku Local Government.
Adamu said that the accused stole 10 cows belonging to one Mohammed Bose.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code Law.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Adamu told the court that investigation into the matter was still ongoing.
He asked the court to adjourn the case to enable the police complete its investigation.
The counsel to the accused, Sunday Dabis, did not object to the prosecutor’s demand for adjournment.
Dabis , however, advised the prosecutor to speed up its investigation. (NAN)
