Lagos, Dec. 19, 2016 (NAN) A 25-year-old man, Triumph Okechukwu, was on Monday docked at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly detaining and capturing a nine-year-old boy with intent to cause him harm.
The accused, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of capturing and detaining with intent to cause harm.
Okechukwu, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Alubo Okotie, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 8 at about 8.00 a.m. at Sunderland Hotel in Orile, a Lagos suburb.
Okotie alleged that the accused unlawfully captured and detained the victim, Chukwudalu Nnaji, with intent to cause him harm before an alarm was raised and he was apprehended.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 269 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, granted the accused N100, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She said that one of the sureties must be either the father or mother of the accused.
Folarin-Williams adjourned further hearing on the matter till Jan. 13, 2017. (NAN)
