Lulu, Useni, Omeruo, others for FCT FA award

Abuja, Dec. 8, 2016 (NAN) Sani Lulu, former President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), former FCT Minister, Gen. Jeremiah Useni and Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, are among others listed for the maiden FCT Football Association (FA) football award.

Patrick Nwaogu, the FCT FA’s Vice-Chairman made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

NAN reports that the award is expected to hold on Dec. 12 at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja.

The statement quoted the FCT FA Chairman, Musa Talle, as saying that the award was a deliberate effort of the FA to bring together the past and present actors in football.

“It will also help to forge a better future for the game in the Federal Capital Territory,’’ it said.

The statement added that the timing of the awards to coincided with the 40 years of FCT (1976 to 2016) and the movement of the seat of the Federal Government from Lagos to Abuja on Dec. 12, 1991.

“It is important and worth celebrating.’’

It said that the FCT FA would issue certificates and other awards to individuals and organisations.

“The list includes Sen. Useni, Sen. Dino Melaye, Sen. Osita Izunaso, Justice Moses Bello (First Chairman, FCT FA), Mr Sani Lulu, among others.

“Organisations like the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja Municipal Area Council, and Supreme Court are also to be honoured.

“Ohter are Nigeria Airforce and the Nigeria Police that have contributed to football development will also receive awards,’’ it said.

The statement added that Super Eagles, Omeruo, Nosa Igiebor, Rabiu Ibrahim, Sincere Seth, Godwin Saviour, John Lazarus were among players to get awards in view of the fact that they were Abuja grassroots players. (NAN)
