Lokogoma flood: AMAC chairman donates relief materials to family of victims

Abuja, Sept. 18, 2017 (NAN) The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Abdullahi Candido, on  Monday donated relief materials to the family of the victims of Lokogoma flood, Mr Kenneth Nwoga.

Items donated include: a bag of rice, oil and a cash donation of N100, 000 given to the wife of the deceased, Mrs Ijeoma Keneth as succour.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that two of his children also died in a flash flood that occurred on Aug. 17 in Lokogoma district of Abuja.

The chairman, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on relief and emergency, Mr Desmond Nwaju, sympathised with the family of the victims.

He said that the donation was just to assist in the burial of the flood victims, adding that further plans would be revealed on how to assist the widow.

Candido said a delegation led by the vice chairman, Mr Lawrence Onuchukwu, have been directed to visit victims of Wasa fire disaster in Kabusa at the trauma ward of the National hospital Abuja.

He added that the delegation also paid part of the hospital bills of the victims so that they could access adequate health services.

In her response, Mrs Keneth thanked the council chairman for supporting the family during the trying period.

She called on other well meaning Nigerians, government agencies, non-governmental organisations to support those in pain and provide succour to victims of disasters.(NAN).
