Liberian President to pay official visit to ECOWAS institutions, Dec. 4, 5

Abuja, Dec. 2, 2016 (NAN) Liberian President and Chair of Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, will pay an official visit to ECOWAS Institutions, the Commission has said.

According to a statement from the Commission in Abuja on Friday, Sirleaf ‘s visit would be from Dec. 4 to Dec. 5.

During her visit, the president would hold discussions with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr Marcel de Souza, senior officials and staff of the Commission.

She is also expected to meet officials of the ECOWAS Parliament, the Community Court of Justice as well as ECOWAS ambassadors.

During her meetings with officials, Sirleaf would appraise the ongoing institutional reforms as well as the objectives and ongoing projects and programmes including funding sources and challenges facing the various departments and institutions.

She would also use the visit to promote the consolidation of the ECOWAS peace and security architecture as well as the conclusion of negotiations and legal actions to enhance trade integration.

President Sirleaf was appointed chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government during the 49th ECOWAS Ordinary Summit which held in Dakar, Senegal in June. (NAN)
