LG boss decries increasing criminal activities in Akwanga

Akwanga (Nasarawa State), Oct. 30, 2017 (NAN) Mr Kwanta Yakubu, Chairman, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has decried the increasing rate of criminal activities in the area.
Yakubu stated this in Akwanga on Monday during the swearing-in- of the newly-appointed members of the IMC of the area.
He also expressed concern over daily highway robberies and other criminal activities in the council headquarters.
He promised to partner with security agencies to prevent criminals from carrying out their nefarious activities in the area.
According to him, “we are not going to allow kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals in Akwanga to operate, it is not going to be a comfortable zone for criminal activities.
“Armed robbery has become a routine affair in Akwanga; it is unacceptable and we will not accept it, we are going to tackle it, by God’s grace,’’ he warned.
The chairman also sworn-in new councilors who he urged to be transparent in discharging their duties.
“I call on you to be prudent, transparent and be accountable in the discharge of your duties in order to justify your appointments by Gov.Tanko Al-Makura
“Transparency and accountability should be your watch words because corruption, injustice among other social vices, have affected our lives and the socio-economic development of the country, negatively,’’ he said. (NAN)
