Pankshin (Plateau), Jan. 24, 2017 (NAN) Commercial motorcycle operators in Pankshin, PLateau State, have been advised to desist from conniving with criminals to attack people.

Mr Stephen Jings, Chairman of the Pankshin Local Government Interrim Management Committee, who gave the advice on Tuesday, regretted that people on motorcycles had often opened fire on innocent people.

“People on motorcycles have often shot into crowds and sped off; we shall no longer tolerate such wicked behaviour,” Jings said, when he received newly elected officials of the area’s chapter of the Motorcycle Riders Association.

He described the attacks as “unjustifiable”, saying that worst hit areas included farms, homes, and markets.

Jings advised the riders to avoid hard drugs so as not to ruin their lives.

The Chairman tasked the new officials to ensure sanity in their operations, and promised to review the time restriction order placed on their activities, if they showed signs of maturity.

He also pledged to capture the data of members for the purposes of providing reflective jackets as part of the safety measures.

Jings also promised to organise workshops and seminars on security with the cyclists as major participants.

He charged them to help security agencies with information to rid the area of criminals, and pledged to work closely with the new officials for the overall development of the area.

Earlier, Mr Simon Kopsu, newly elected chairman of the association, had told Jings that the visit was to  congratulate him over his achievements and register the union’s readiness to partner with the council towards peace and security. (NAN)
