Minna, Sept. 15, 2017 (NAN) Mr Umar Musa, a Suleja-based legal practitioner, on Friday called for more commitment to the fight on corruption in order to address the country’s social and political challenges.

In an interview with the News agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna, he said that the root of the ills in Nigeria stems from the corruption by people charged with responsibilities of running the country.

Musa said that the present administration has the task of cleaning the Aegean stable because of the high expectation on it by Nigerians and the rest of world.

He said the Federal Government’s effort at recovering looted funds would also fast track development in various sectors of the Nation’s economy.

“Mr President should put a stop to such people by ensuring diligent prosecutions of all those involved in looting our treasury.

“This is because so much illegitimate funds are being taken by people to the point that those people believed they are above the law.

‘’Proper prosecution must be carried out against perpetrators,” he said.

Musa said that government should diligently prosecute all corruption cases to stop the trend that has brought the country to its knees.

The legal practitioner also advised the Federal Government to set up an independent body to investigate the police high command over alleged financial corruption level against it by Sen. Isa Misau.

NAN reports that Misau recently accused the police high command of fraud but the police authorities have denied the allegations.

“This case should not be swept under the carpet in order to expose the readiness of the Buhari-led government to fight corruption in all its ramifications without fear or favour.

“Misau as a senator of the Federal Republic had raised allegations against the IG. So let an independent committee investigate the case and the circumstances of Sen. Misau’s resignation from the force,” he said. (NAN)
