Corruption
By Aminu Ahmed Garko
Minna, Nov. 24, 2016 (NAN) Alhaji Garba Usman Tantangi (SAN) on Thursday lauded President Mohammed Buhari’s effort in the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.
Usman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that fighting corruption “is one of the best things happening to Nigeria as a nation now.’’
“We want the Federal Government to remove corrupt lawyers and judges out of the system in the correct and proper manner.
“The way the Department of State Security Service (DSS) went about arresting judges was wrong and you have to get a warrant of arrest or go through the chief justice to arrest them in a polite manner,” he said.
Usman said that the country was not in the military regime, therefore, due process must be followed before such arrests could be done.
“We are in support of what President Mohammad Buhari is doing but we are saying that he should do it the right and proper way,’’ he said.
He called on Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade irrespective of political differences for the country to achieve its set objectives.
He said that corruption was responsible for the present economic recession that the country had been going through. (NAN)
