Lafia June 7, 2017 (NAN) A legislator in Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Abubakar Kana, has sunk 13 motorised boreholes in his constituency to tackle the problem of water scarcity.

The lawmaker, who represents Kokona West constituency, made the disclosure on Wednesday in Lafia when he received members of Unity and Progress Forum, Kofar Gwari ward in Kokona LGA.

He promised to initiate policies and projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of his constituents.

“First and foremost, I want to thank you for the visit and for appreciating what I have done in your ward and my constituency which has impacted positively on your lives and the lives of others; I promise to do more.

“Everybody can testify to what I have done for the people of my constituency; that is why I don’t want to list my achievements since my assumption of office.

“He who provides water provides life. Human beings cannot sustain their lives without water.

“The gesture is apart of my campaign promises as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has mandated us to embark on projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the electorates,” he said.

Kana assured his constituents that he would embark on people-oriented projects to fight poverty, unemployment and boost the socio-economic welfare of his constituents.

He urged Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

Earlier, the chairman of the forum, Ibrahim Musa, said the visit was to appreciate the lawmaker for his efforts to improve the standard of living of his people.

“We are here to show our solidarity, support, loyalty and to thank you for initiating people oriented projects in our constituency.

Musa also appealed to the lawmaker to assist his people with employment, admission and provide them with fertilizers and farm inputs to boost food production. (NAN)
