Lawmaker provides Xmas succour to constituents

Lafia, Dec. 18, 2016 (NAN) A member representing Doma South constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr James Dangana, on Sunday distributed clothing materials worth N1.8 million to his constituents for Christmas/New Year celebration.

Dangana (APC), who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Information, said the gesture was to assist the people celebrate the two festivals.

“The items are given as part of contribution to reduce the plight the people normally face during the yuletide,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that the clothing materials distributed to the youths, women and elders of the constituency includes cotton yards, wrappers and gowns (agbada/babban riga), among others.

According to him, giving arm to the people will go a long way in improving their standard of living during and after the yuletide for the overall development of the communities.

“I deemed it necessary to distribute these materials worth N1.8 million to the youths, women and elders of my constituency which is made up of four electoral wards of Rukubi, Agbashi, Doka and Akpanaja.

“As an elected officer, I am so much concerned about their empowerment.

“It is good to always show love, affection, charity and to extend hands of friendship to the needy and other people in the society.

“This may be small but the gesture will touch lives positively during the Christmas and New Year celebration,” he said.

He also said that 20 cows had been bought to be slaughtered and distributed for the enjoyment of the communities during the period.

Dangana therefore promised the people of a fruitful and quality representation, adding that he will not engage in activities that would bring shame to the constituency.

Messrs Umar Aliyu and Michael Musa, Ward Chairmen of APC in Doka and Akpanaja, respectively, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the legislator for bringing succour to the people at the period of need. (NAN)
