Lagos, July 19, 2017 (NAN) The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and the Council for Arts and Culture would jointly train children on how to make indigenous artifacts during its cultural fiesta.
Mrs Saidat Otulana, Director, Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that they would be trained in bead-making, tie-and-dye and others.
“The children will be given lectures on cultural etiquette, bead-making, indigenous music, tie-and-dye making (adire), traditional dance and songs, visual arts and acting,
“We are quite aware that most parents are too busy to put their wards through most of the activities.’’
She advised parents to register their children whom should be between eight years and 15 years old for the programme slated for between Aug.4 and Aug.18.
According to her, the fiesta intends to catch them young.
Otulana said that each child would be expected to pay N15, 000 into the Lagos State single treasury account for the training. (NAN)
