Lagos, June 15, 2017 (NAN) Mr Muminu Badmus, the Managing Director, Lagos State Water Corporation, says the corporation will promote transparency in all its water reticulation projects.

Badmus gave the assurance in Lagos on Thursday at a meeting organised by the corporation to brief investors on the Engineering Consulting Services Design of the Adiyan 2 Reticulation Works.

He said that only three companies, out of the seven companies which expressed interest to work with the corporation in the reticulation project, met the requirements.

“The three companies — AG Gold Trust Nigeria Ltd., Vision Scape Water Solutions Ltd., Metito and Veolia Shoreline Group — are present for the briefing.

“The idea is for them to know the scope of work and the coverage areas so as to enable them to prepare their tenders without any hitches.

“The meeting will also give room for the investors to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding the project,’’ he said.

Badmus said that all questions and answers would be documented for future references.

Mr Ernest Okocha, the Consulting Engineer in charge of the Adiyan 2 Reticulation Works, said that the project would cover the western and northern parts of Lagos State.

Okocha, who is the Managing Director of CKW Environment Ltd., a firm handling consultancy services in sanitary engineering, said that the project design contained work details and the specific procedures.

He said that the electrical and mechanical designs would also be made available to the investors.

Okocha pledged that the company would always be willing to meet with the investors to address all issues relating to the project.

He said that works in the western part of the state involved new constructions as no water pipes had been laid in those areas, while the projects in the northern part entailed the upgrade of existing pipes.

Mr Funso Alimi, a representative of one of the investors, who commended the corporation for the meeting, however, solicited a two-week extension of the submission date for the tenders.

He stressed that the investors needed extra time to enable them to look into how to source funds for the project since it would require huge capital outlay.

According to him, the investors will also scrutinise properly the terms of the concession to ensure that everybody benefits from it.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the neighbourhoods selected for new water pipeline constructions include Idimu, Ikota, Ayobo, Ipaja, Kirikiri and Ajegunle, among others. (NAN)
