Stealing

Lagos, Jan. 13, 2017 (NAN) A Tinubu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos Island on Friday fixed Jan. 16, to sentence a 22-year-old man, Afeez Omidotun for stealing a bag containing money and valuables worth N150,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo fixed the date after Omidotun pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Ikobayo ordered that the accused should be remanded in Ikoyi prison till the next adjourned date for fact and sentence.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Richard Odigie told the court that the accused and one other, still at large committed the offenses on Dec. 27, 2016 at Ikota, Ajah, Lagos.
He said that the accused snatched the bag of one Genevieve Ngeremokwu while he was on a motorcycle.
“The complainant raised alarm the accused was apprehended but his accomplice, the motorcycle rider escaped,” he said.
Odigie said that the bag contained valuables and money worth N150, 000.
The offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
