Lafia, Feb. 5, 2018 (NAN) Comprehensive Special School, Lafia, a specialist outfit for physically challenged children, has enrolled more than 1,000 pupils, according to Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, Commissioner for Special Education, Science and Technology.

Ayuba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lafia that the school, which is to be formally inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on Feb. 6, would soon admit more pupils.

He said that government had deployed special education teachers from other schools across the state into the Lafia school to ensure its smooth take-off.

“More students are being admitted; as soon as we conclude the process of admission, we would ascertain the number of additional teachers to be engaged, depending on the nature of the disability of the pupils.

“We have also commenced the training of the teachers to further build their capacities because of the peculiarities of the pupils,’’ he said.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the government had provided uniforms and feeding for the pupils, preparatory to immediate commencement of academic activities.

NAN reports that the school is one of the projects to be inaugurated by President Buhari during his visit to the state on Tuesday. (NAN)
