Abuja, Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) A 35-year-old labourer, Awalu Hassan, on Wednesday appeared in a Lugbe Grade1Area Court, Abuja, for alleged criminal trespass and theft.

Hassan of Lugbe Zone1 Extension Airport Road, Abuja, denied committing the offence.

The President, Mr Garba Ogbede, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50, 000, with a reliable surety in like sum.

Ogbede adjourned the case till Jan. 30 for trial.

The Prosecutor, Miss Vivian Oporomo, told the court that the complainant,  Ozor Columbus of Lugbe Zone 1, reported the matter at the Lugbe Police Station on Jan. 4.

Oporomo said the defendant on Jan. 3 at about 8 p.m. dishonestly trespassed into the complainant’s compound without his consent and stole pieces of cut wood valued N200,000.

She said that during police investigation and interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence.

The prosecuting counsel said that the offence contravened sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
