Labourer bags 6 months jail term for criminal trespass, theft

Abuja, Dec. 19, 2016 (NAN) A Karmo Grade1Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old labourer, Emmanuel Mark, to six months imprisonment without option of fine for criminal trespass.

Mark, who resides in Gwarimpa was convicted after he pleaded guilty to charges bordering on criminal trespass and theft.

He begged the court for leniency.

The Judge, Abubakar Sadiq, warned the convict to desist from crime in future.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one Andrew Adamu of Gwarimpa, reported the matter at the Gwarimpa Police Station on Dec. 13.

Zannah said that Mark criminally entered the complainant’s site and removed some electrical wires already installed in the building.

He said that the accused also stole wires valued at N265, 000.

The prosecutor said that Mark made a confessional statement during investigation.

The offence contravened Sections, 348 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
