Abuja, April 26, 2017 (NAN) A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced one ThankGod David, 27, to three months imprisonment for causing hurt.

The judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado, however, gave him an option of N5,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.
The convict, a resident of Angwan Shaho village Karmo, Abuja, was convicted on a count charge of causing hurt.

The convict prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, that he needed the money to pay his bills.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, told the court that one Mr Abubakar Nurudeen of Quatile Asset Nigeria Limited, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on April 20.

Obatomi said that on April 18, the convict was given a clearing job and the complainant agreed to pay him N4, 000.
When he completed the job the following day, the accountant had left.

“He came back on April 20 and demanded for his money. He held the complainant hostage and later pulled a cutlass to inflict injury on his left hand.

“During police investigation, the said cutlass was recovered from him and he admitted committing the crime,’’ she said.

The prosecutor said that the offence was punishable under Section 244 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
