By Olayinka Owolewa
Ilorin, Feb. 17, 2017 (NAN) The Kwara State House of Assembly has acquired 150 hectares of farmland for this year’s farming season.
The Speaker of the House, Dr Ali Ahmad, disclosed this on Friday in Ilorin while speaking at the official investiture of Alhaji Ahmed Raji as the New President of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA).
According to him, this is part of the contribution of the House to accelerate the economic development of the state, especially in the agricultural sector.
Dr Ahmad noted that this is to demonstrate that agriculture remains the surest avenue for economic re-engineering to take the state and the nation out of its lingering economic challenges.
The Speaker assured that the lawmakers would be receptive to the contribution of the Chamber through the sponsoring of a bill that would add value to the economic and social well-being of the people of the state, including the business community. (NAN)
