Kwara Speaker mourns veteran broadcaster, Abubakar

Ilorin, Oct. 2 2017 (NAN)The Speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad has described the death of a veteran broadcaster, Alhajj Yusuf Abubakar as a great loss to journalism.
Abubakar, who was the Pioneer General Manager of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (Harmony FM), ldofian in kwara died on Sunday in Ilorin at 65.

The Speaker in his condolence message signed by his special assistant media, Shuaib Abdulkadir described the demise of the veteran broadcaster as a great loss to Journalism profession in Nigeria.

He noted that the deceased, who had served as Chief Press Secretary to two Military governors in Kwara, played significant role in the entrenchment of Journalism Profession in the country.

“We shall miss his sense of humour, late “Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar was a great Patriot, committed, frank broadcaster who had contributed significantly towards the development of the State and entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria,” the statement said.

Ahmad, while condoling the family of the deceased, urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased left legacies of hardworking, transparency, caring, humility and God fearing.

He prayed Allah to grant the soul of the deceased Al-Janat Fridouz (The best paradise) and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable Loss.

The deceased is survived by a wife, Children, grand Children and great grandchildren.

The Fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of the deceased would be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the family company, Aweri compound, Niger road, llorin.

NAN reports that prominent personalities from all walks of life have continued to troop to the private residence of the deceased along Basin road, Zango area, llorin to condole the family.

Among the sympathisers were Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed, the Nigeria Ambassodor to Malaysia, Alhajj Nurudeen Mohamned and the Director General of the National broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mallam lsiaq Modibbo-Kawu, among others. (NAN)
