Ilorin, March 2, 2017 (NAN) The Kwara House of Assembly on Thursday directed chairmen of the 16 local government areas of the state to provide a database of unemployed youths to ascertain the number of employable youths.
The House gave made the resolution after its Leader, Mr Hassan Oyeleke, raised the issue under matters of urgent public importance.
The House leader had submitted that the availability of the database would assist the state government and local councils to know the academic qualifications of unemployed youths.
According to the leader, the database would also enable the state and councils to provide available jobs to qualified youths.
Oyeleke, who described unemployment as major problem, said that the database would serve as a reference point when jobs would be available.
Ahmed bin-Mohammed (APC – Kaima/Wajibe Constituency) and Kamal Fagbemi (APC – Oke-Ogun Constituency) supported Oyeleke, adding that the availability of the database would stop aliens from claiming that they originated from Kwara.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Mathew Okedare, who presided over the plenary of the House on Thursday, directed the 16 local government councils to provide a database of unemployed youths in their respective areas. (NAN)
