Kebbi Govt urges LG to promote, social, cultural festival to boost tourism

Brinin Kebbi, Feb. 2, 2017 (NAN) The Kebbi Deputy Governor, Alhaji Samila Dabai, has urged communities in Shindi District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area to promote their cultural values and traditions to make the area a tourist centre

Dabai, who made the call at the annual Uhola festival in Shindi town on Thursday, described the annual socio-cultural festival as unique, especially as it was a memorable occasion after harvest.

NAN reports that the festival was also an occasion to show of appreciation and show case end of the year harvest as well as to seekBprotection against evil throughout the year and for a bumper harvest.

Some groups also participated in the cultural dance competion.

The deputy governor called on people of the area to continue to support and cooperate with the state government in its commitment to boost the agriculture

Mr Hamza Bello, representing Danko/Wasagu West in the House of Assembly called on the people to sustain the cultural festival.

Bello called on the state government to ensure development of social and cultural festival as well as boost agricultural production.

He also appealed to state and local authorities to provide conducive environment to boost education and provide basic amenities.

He called on people of Shindi to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to security agencies for necessary action.

The District Head of Shindi, Yakin Gomo. expressed appreciation to the state government for its effort in making the event a success.

Gomo commended the state government for constructing the house of the district head of Shindo and the provision of portable water to the area.(NAN)
